Kauai Lagoons Golf Course <http://www.kauailagoonsgolf.com/> Kauai Lagoons Golf Club on the majestic Garden Island of Kauai is home to two award winning Jack Nicklaus designed golf courses. The dramatic Kiele Course (key-ay-lay) weaves along imposing ocean cliffs, lush valleys, and among 40 acres of fresh water lagoons. Its companion, the Mokihana Course (mow-key-ha-nah) is a Scottish style links course that features open fairways and well-guarded, small undulating greens. The resort’s courses, practice facilities, first class accommodations, food and beverage facilities, and Golf Pro Shop, add up to a golf resort experience that’s second to none!

The Puakea Golf Course <http://www.puakeagolf.com/view.asp?id=77&page=892> Imagine yourself walking up to the first tee with a view of the Pacific Ocean behind you and Mount Haupu towering over you. This isn’t a dream…. this is Puakea Golf Course. Robin Nelson, Hawaii’s most prolific golf course architect, designed the course to play around deep ravines and streams fed by fresh mountain rain water. With the inspirational terrain and calming mountain range backdrop, you’ll find Puakea Golf Course to play differently under a variety of weather conditions of wind and water. Nelson’s masterful architecture clearly conveys the routes one should take to achieve textbook pars. Geogrphical Information

Section 16: Geographical Information

Because the "Garden Island" of Kauai is the furthest North of Hawaii’s main islands, we are “Top of the Chain”, it is slightly cooler than the other islands. Typical winter daytime highs are 76 to 80 degrees F (24.4-26.7 C) and nighttime lows
run 60 to 64 degrees (15.6-17.8 C); while summer daytime highs range from 84 to 87 degrees
(28.9-30.6 C) and nighttime lows are typically 70 to 72 degrees (21.1-22.2 C). Spring and Fall temperatures are only slightly different from the highs and lows noted above.

For beach goers, the water temperature in the near-shore waters varies from summer highs of approximately 80 degrees (26.7 C), to a low of about 73 degrees (22.8 C) during the coolest winter months. Like all of the islands, Kauai can have large waves in the winter-time. Usually these pounding breakers do not impact beaches at the resort locations, but they do make for wonderful viewing. Strong winter currents can make a beach unsafe, so ask at your hotel and watch for warning flags and posted beach conditions.

With Kauai’s more than 50 miles of beaches, there’s always more than one great spot for you to enjoy the water.

Kauai has mountain and highland regions where the weather can be very different from the coastal areas. Visitors will find there is a 3.5 degree drop in temperature for every thousand foot rise above sea level. So if you’re planning to drive up to Koke’e, you will want to bring a jacket and
sweatpants, because the temperatures will be 10-12 degrees cooler than at sea level locations….especially in the winter months. Think jackets/sweaters in the mountains or even at the beach in the winter.

Rainfall on Kauai varies both with the seasons and as a result of the trade winds, which produce differences in weather between the northern and
eastern coasts (windward side) verses southern and western coasts (leeward side).

Summer months tend to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on both coasts, while the winter months of November to March bring an increase of clouds
and periodic rain showers. Even during the wetter winter months, precipitation tends to come in brief spells, and there are relatively few periods of prolonged rain.

Because of the northeast trade winds, the protected southwest coast tends to receive much less rain than do northern and eastern areas of the island.

Most of the heavy rain that does fall however, occurs in the higher mountain elevations, above the resort areas. Another moderating factor is
that the rains fall typically during the night and early morning hours …leaving much of the daylight hours available for outdoor activities.

The nice thing about Kauai is that the weather is very localized, so if its inclement where you are, a dry sunny beach can usually be found by just
driving a few miles to another part of the island. It is this wide variety of environments created by the mix of ocean, mountains and moist trade
winds that allow visitors to enjoy sun-drenched beaches, lush tropical valleys, water falls, colorful canyons, cool highlands and frequent rainbows all delivered with Kauai’s warm spirit of Aloha.

There are about 55,000 residents on Kauai. Our main island round road goes 80 of the 100 mile circumference and the famous Na Pali Coast makes up the remaining 20 miles. Speed limit is 50, but many residents go only 45 MPH for comfort and safety and day to day sight seeing. We have jungles and desert and rugged mountains on Kauai.

PLACES TO GO ON KAUAI

PLACES TO GO ON KAUAI

Section 15:

This is Kauai, where incredible natural beauty abounds from the breathtaking heights of the verdant Kokee forests to the magnificent Na Pali
coastline, from the ever-changing colors of WaimeaCanyon to the romance of moonlit
HanaleiBay, the beauty of the Garden Island overwhelms your senses.

This year is Kauai’s 5,000,000th birthday.

Kauai is as close as one can come to the fantasy world of "Bali Hai." The Garden Island, as it is nicknamed, is a tropical paradise blessed with a
mild climate, wide sand beaches, and waterfall etched mountains. It is the oldest and most northerly of the Hawaiian Islands. It was the first of the Hawaiian Islands that Captain Cook visited and it was the last of Hawaii’s independent kingdoms.

The first successful sugar plantation was established here in 1835. Only on Kauai does the Mokihana berry grow and it was here that the legendary race of little people–the Menehune–flourished.

Kauai stands out as the vacation destination of choice, blending the enchantment of ancient Hawaii with all modern conveniences. Kayak on the same river where Indiana Jones escaped, or windsurf with playful spinner dolphins swimming at your side. Enjoy a whale watching expedition, or explore exquisite waterfalls on a scenic helicopter tour, or from a zodiac
craft.

Sportfishing, scuba diving, and snorkeling are all popular in the pristine waters off the incomparable coasts. Horseback riding offers breathtaking vistas from the mountains to the beaches.
Kauai is a magnificent natural setting for golf. Kauai is home to many top-ranked courses as Golf Digest rates four of the championship golf
courses among the top seven in the State of Hawaii and Wailua Municipal Golf Course consistently ranks in the top 100 municipal courses in the country.

A few short miles from the County Seat in Lihue and the main airport on auai, you will find the Wailua area that boasts several shopping centers,
restaurants and the Wailua River, home to the world famous "Fern Grotto."

Traveling farther north, you will encompass the majesty of the Garden Island as you visit places with familiar names such as Princeville; Hanalei,
home of "South Pacific;" Lumaha’i, or "Nurses Beach;" Mt. Makana, known as "Bali Hai;" Makua Beach, called "Tunnels;" and Ke’e, home of the hula and a major location for the television mini-series "The ThornBirds."

The Poipu area is best-known for sun, sand and surf.

The West side is where you will find the WaimeaCanyon, described by Mark Twain as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Explore the quaint towns of Hanapepe, Waimea and Kekaha.

Come to Kauai and discover for yourself a land where beauty, adventure and activities abound, enhanced by the down-to-earth hospitality
of her people.

BOTANIC GARDENS – abounding in natural vegetation, Kauai also has four botanic gardens which are open to the public for small fees. The Smith’s Tropical Paradise at Wailua, OlaPuaGardens at Kalaheo, KiahunaPlantation
Gardens in Poipu, the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Lawai, offer an unusual assortment of flowers, shrubs, cacti and other magnificent
species of plant life.

CAPTAIN COOK’S LANDING, WAIMEA BAY – the first place in which the intrepid British explorer set foot in Hawaii in January, 1778. This bay was for many years a favorite provisioning port with Pacific traders and whalers.

FERN GROTTO – this hauntingly beautiful cave, luxuriantly festooned with growing ferns, is reached from the Wailua Marina.

GROVE FARM HOMESTEAD – founded in 1864 by George Wilcox, the homestead is now a museum complex which includes the old family plantation home, wash house, tea house, guest cottage and other amenities. The homestead is typical of the old Hawaiian plantation experience and tradition. It is just south of Lihue.

HANALEI VALLEY – another name for Hanalei is Hanohano, meaning "glorious." You will want to stop at the vantage point near the marker to gaze at this sweeping scene of majestic tranquility.

HANAPEPE VALLEY – note the red cliffs and the handsome color accent they give the valley’s myriad shades of green and blue.

KALALAU LOOKOUT – once peacocks preened their plumage in this tropic Eden and families cultivated terraces of taro. No one lives here now… nothing remains but one of the most beautiful views on earth. You can also hike
into this Valley or just go the first 1/2 mile of one of the world’s most beautiful ocean side hikes with a swim in the Ke’e Lagoon when you are
finished.

KAMOKILA HAWAIIAN VILLAGE – above the great bend of the Wailua River, where war canoes of the King of Kauai, Kaumualii, once assembled, lie the ruins of an old Hawaiian village.

KAUAI MUSEUM – the museum in Lihue presents a factual history of the Garden Isle, using artifacts and photograph. Other historical and art exhibits are also displayed.

KE’E BEACH PARK – a fine bathing beach at the end of the road where the trail begins to the Na Pali Cliffs.

KILAUEA LIGHTHOUSE & KILAUEA POINT NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE – a refuge for
nesting seabirds, the isolated promontory where the lighthouse sits is open to visitors.

KOKEE STATE PARK – adjacent to Waimea Canyon this park has picnic grounds, cabins and a wide variety of outdoor activities including hunting, trout fishing and hiking. The NASA Kokee Tracking Station is located nearby.

LUMAHAI BEACH – chosen for Nurses’ Beach in South Pacific, this lovely spot is undoubtedly the most photographed beach on Kauai.

MENEHUNE DITCH – only small portions remain of what was once a great water course or aqueduct. Archeologists say it was built before Hawaiians came possibly by the Menehune.

MENEHUNE FISH POND, NIUMALU – remarkable stone walls are said to have been built in one night by the Menehune. The fish pond they enclose is still in use.

OLD RUSSIAN FORT (FORTELIZABETH) – hoping to seize Kauai for his Czar, an employee of the Russian Fur Company of Alaska built this fort near the mouth of the Waimea River in 1817. Rocky ruins are all that remains of his effort and dream.

OPAEKAAFALLS – the Wailua River makes a dramatic plunge over a high cliff. Opaekaa means "rolling shrimp" and dates from days when swarms of shrimp were seen rolling in turbulent waters at the base of the falls.

POIPU BEACH – Exceptionally fine bathing beach.

ROYAL BIRTHSTONES, WAILUA – women of Hawaiian nobility always tried to each these sacred stones in time to give birth to insure the royal status of their children.

SLEEPING GIANT – the outline of a mountain ridge shows a striking resemblance to a reclining giant.

SMITH’S TROPICAL PARADISE this 23-acre site has gardens, lagoons, exotic birds and unique narrated train ride which meanders through a rain forest, a Polynesian village, a Japanese island, a Filipino village and other interesting areas. Kauai’s ethnic heritage is reflected nightly in a
75-minute musical production in the lagoon theater.

SPOUTING HORN – when tide is running high, waves pressured through lava tubes are forced through a hole in coastal rocks to burst noisily into spectacular fountains of salt spray and foam.

WAILUAFALLS – nicknamed Fantasy Island Waterfalls.

WAIMEA CANYON – this is more than a view, it’s an experience! You’ll treasure in memory its grandeur and jewel-tone colors, its awesome depth and breadth.

WAIOLI MISSION HOUSE – visitors are welcome to look through this quaint home, built in 1834 and restored by descendants of the first missionaries.

WET AND DRY CAVES OF HAENA – these eerie caverns, one dry, the other two filled with limpid green water, are where chiefs are said to have gathered in ancient times.

Taxi and Da Bus

The Taxi from the airport is about $27. Our cell phone is 652-8162 for us to pick you up. We have a 4 door pick up and can handle several people and their stuff all for a total of only $20.

The bus is $1.50 for each side of the island…transfers in Lihue Town.

Sometimes there are mountain bikes to rent from local people. $10/day. If more are needed a short few minute walk has other bike rentals but they are considerably more expensive. We rent these bikes as a courtesy to our guests and because the
others can be so expensive.

Some Easy Rules

Some easy rules for your comfort and cleanly environ. Email us for an updated rules. We, like any other place of lodging need some rules to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A pay phone is located right across the street at the sidewalk fronting the Windward Deli.
1.) Please enjoy and feel welcome to ask us any questions and/or to assist you with anything within reason. We are here to serve you and help
you have a tremendous Hawaiian Tropical experience on Kauai
2.) Sheets must be maintained for at least 5 days or we must charge for earlier clean replacements. If you want a beach towel, you can buy one and have a beautiful souvenir of your visit by
buying one at the nearby ABC Store for under $10. ABSOLUTELY NO LINENS, PILLOWS, OR KITCHEN WARE CAN BE TAKEN FROM THE BEACHHOUSE.

3.) When you return from the beach you, PLEASE, you MUST hose all sand and mud off yourself
because sand in the sewer lines clogs them. Hoses are at ground level of the bluilding at all entrances and are on the front and the back and the side of the building.

Any open flames like candles, incense, or cigarettes or smoking of any kind are not allowed in or on the building or its decks. Smoking must be done down in the parking area or alongside the lagoon. All open flames and embers like incense or any burning embers are forbidden due to the risk of fire and the comfort of our other guests.

During the day, in the shared accommodation rooms, we ask you to put all your belongings on your bed and close your curtains so that the rooms look tidy and clean; so that we all can experience a comfortable visual environment conducive to the lush tropical views and sparkling lagoon waters right in back of us.

6.) When you use the kitchen or baths please clean up after yourself very well for the next person’s right to cleanliness and sanitation. Our fee for lodging does not include frequent cleanups during the day as an expensive
hotel affords you.

7.) Please remove your shoes or slippers before going onto any carpets or into the sleeping rooms as this is a part of the Hawaiian Culture. You would insult someone’s home in Hawaii to wear your shoes indoors.

8.) We collect the fees for lodging in advance in cash or traveler’s checks only. Once you have arrived we will continue your reservations only for the nights you pre-pay after your arrival. We receive Email and phone reservations everyday from people who are already on the island or are
arriving from another island within the hour and any accommodation not paid for in advance would be given to another traveler.

This is especially compounded when we have walk-ins. Sometimes we can get 8 walk-ins in an hour and we will provide accommodation for them for any bed not paid for in advance after you have arrived. Some people like to "play it by ear"
regarding the days they want to go camping or how many days they want to stay on Kauai. We are fine by that and would want to do the same ourselves, just be aware that we need to keep our place as full as possible and so any bed or room not paid in advance is an open space in our reservation book.

9.) Check out time is 10:00 a.m.; but you do not need to leave The Kauai BeachHouse. We just need to clean and hang to dry all the sheets and towels and have them ready for others later in the day and clean the rooms and have them ready for the Noon check-ins. If you have a late afternoon or evening flight, arrangements can be made for a later shower at a fee, $5.

You are welcome to relax around the premises until you go to your flight. Why a late shower fee?

Because we have the second highest utility rates in the US. A shower uses water, electric, and sewage, and a towel. Formal Check-in Times are
Noon, and 6 p.m., and 8 pm. If you arrive between times, relax make yourself at home; grab an empty bunk if you are in shared. We will provide
sheets/etc., when we check you in.

10) Because we are in the tropics you must eat and keep food only in the kitchen area or take it out to the edge of The Blue Lagoon and enjoy your meal by the edge of the water between the swaying palms. There are large plastic snap on lid containers for food not needing refrigeration, each container has an Island name on it to individualize each one.

11.)If you rent anything from us you are responsible for bringing it back in the same condition or pay for its replacement or repair to pre-damaged condition. When it comes to surfboards or bicycles this can be costly in the
several hundreds of dollars.

You also assume all responsibility for your own
safety. You must wear protective clothing for activities that commonly call for safety equipment…such as a helmet on a bicycle. We do rent mountain bicycles, surfboards, windsurf boards, boogey boards, fins/snorkel/masks for
much less than the activity centers; for your enjoyment and budget considerations.

13.) Rowdy-ness, rude-ness, drunken-ness, drugs or any disruptive behavior will result in appropriate action on our part along the lines of canceling a reservation or even calling the Police immediately. No illegal drugs of any kind are allowed in or on the premises. On this island, drug paraphernalia, even cigarette papers, is a mandatory 5 years in prison; and we won’t
tolerate it either. At The Kapa’a BeachHouse, Paradise is all you need, and it arrived before we did.

14.) If no one is here when you get here make yourself at home until our return or please call us at 652-8162 or 63 or 64 phone is by the 2nd floor chalkboard. This will tell us that you are there and we will come as soon as we can or at the next assigned check in time. I believe the phone # across the street at the side walk to the right of Kojima Storeis 823-9707.

15.) PLEASE do not hang anything to dry on any railings of the Kauai BeachHouse on the decks…it just looks terrible. And besides there is a clothes drying area. Ask anyone where.

16.) PLEASE do not sit on any railing or the bathroom sinks, which is dangerous on the one hand and damaging on the other.

COMPARING OURSELVES

COMPARING OURSELVES

We charge a few dollars more for our shared accommodation only because we have some of the highest utility rates and taxes in the USA; and because it is the only budget traveler/backpacker location in Hawaii located right on a lagoon and
the ocean with proximity to everything you need within walking distance. We charge the same or less for our private rooms which all but one have the fabulous Blue Lagoon and Pacific Ocean view. While the only other budget lodge’s private rooms all overlook the county industrial base yard for parking heavy equipment and shipping containers, we are truly on the Blue Lagoon with a feeling of paradise.
The beds, view, staff, privacy and atmosphere have no comparison to any other budget lodge
in Hawaii and is said to be so by well traveled vacationers who have been to many other locations in Hawaii and overseas. Lonely Planet has chosen us to be in their latest (2008) book on Hawaii as well now numerous other budget and back packer travel books from "Lets Go" to many others

HITCH HIKING

HITCH HIKING

Hitch hiking is common and you can do so by going out of airport and at the big intersection with stop lights, walk a little to the right (north) and go for it. We are about 9 miles from the airport 1 block 3 buildings from the north end of Kapa’a Town on the ocean side of the road across from Kojima Store and 2 doors south of the Kapa’a Neighborhood Center and Kapa’a Swimming Pool.

BUS SERVICE ON KAUAI

BUS SERVICE ON KAUAI

The local bus which stops 2 doors to the north at the Kapa’a Neighborhood Center does not accept passengers with large camping packs, but it does now goes to the airport. It stops across the street at Kojima Store going to Lihue Town and the Airport, it would be coming from Anahola, Kilauea, Princeville, Hanalei, Haena, and the Kalalau Trail.

RENTAL CAR

RENTAL CAR RECOMMENDATIONRENTING A CAR MAKES A BETTER STAY ON KAUAI AND GIVES YOU ACCESS TO ALL THE
SPECTACULAR PLACES TO GO, SEE, and DO things.
There are a few people in town who let people use their cars for $25/day. They are not affiliated with us. The cars are of course not brand new but probably 10 or more years old…many people rent them.

AIRPORT PICKUP

AIRPORT PICKUP

Yes we can pick you up at the airport for a $20, when we are able to which is most of the time;. We need to know how many people and how much luggage as to know whether to bring a car or a pick up truck with front and back seat. The taxi is about $27 and we actually prefer you take the taxi, but we are here to serve you so we will come and get you if we are not just absolutely tied up. We cannot guarantee the airport pick up as it can be only done when we are available to go to the airport. If you want a ride from the airport, let us know when you reserve; and then again by email a day before if you are able to, or by phone if you are already in transit. 1-808-822-3424, cell 652-8162, 63, or 64. All Hawaii phones have area code 808. Also we can call you back if you have to leave a message be sure to give your phone number S_L_O_W_L_Y and twice so we can write it down. And always call us from the airport for a ride

ACCOMMODATIONS CONFIRMATION AND DEPOSIT

ACCOMMODATIONS CONFIRMATION AND DEPOSIT.

Because we are a large building and have only a few accommodations in
comparison with so many other budget/backpacker places, when people reserve
accommodations and we honor that accommodation by blocking it from
others, and then there is a no-show, we lose revenue so important to a new business. So we have looked around the industry and have adopted methods used by others. One does not need a reservation to stay at our place as we
gladly welcome walk-ins when accommodations are available. We have a NON-REFUNDABLE confirmed reservation deposit, the value of which depends on the accommodation reserved. We do refund if we can rent the accommodation reserved. For the Blue Lagoon Room, the Royal Hawaiian Queen Room, and the Ohana Room and the Captain’s Crows Nest there is a $40 for each night deposit, and $20 each night deposit on the Hawaiian Islands Bunk Room and other shared accommodations. If you call from another island you still must use 1-808; from Kauai drop the 1-808. We have a toll free number from anywhere in Hawaii, just call 652-8162When you call us if you get a message please speak slowly and leave a phone number and we’ll call back in the USA/Canada. From Other countries we prefer Email as we answer every day or at the most every 48 hours. Email: Aloha Now let’s say you have paid the deposit and something comes along and your plans have changed. We do want you to be our guests and enjoy an incredibly spectacular experience here on Kauai; so if you absolutely have to alter your
plans, you may do so and choose other nights for up to about a year with no loss of your deposit. This alternative depends on space available. If we can get others to stay in your accommodation we will refund the deposit; or you may extend your stay to another person(s) and work out the money issue with them. We are here to serve you. If we had 50 accommodations we would not need this deposit; but here is quiet and tranquil and a limited # of accommodations; our location for beauty and convenience is beyond expectation for a budget or backpacker accommodation.We will make tentative reservations over the internet email or phone and hold that reservation for a reasonable amount of days to allow you to mail your deposit to us in Hawaii. East Coast USA to Hawaii is about 10 days air mail;
and West Coast is about 3-4 days. Your canceled check is your receipt.
EUROPE/LATIN AMERICA/ASIA/AFRICA is longer mail time and deposits are difficult to make work. So no deposit is required from those locations

DIRECTIONS

DIRECTIONS: Best is to rent a car. Hitch-hiking is legal. The bus stops at the Lihue Airport but does not allow large camping packs or suitcases.
Absurd, yeah? But it does stop 2 doors north of us at the Kapa’a Neighborhood Center coming from the Lihue Airport. If you are coming back from the North Shore, Kalalau Trail or Hanalei Bay get off the bus at Kojima Store. We are behind the old garage with the framed BAMBOO panels across our driveway. Inside is our 24 hour entertainment center. We are across from Kojima Store and next door to Scotty’s BBQ Restaurant. We are 2 doors south (back towards the Lihue Airport) of the Kapa’a Community Center. We are located right on the waters of the Blue Lagoon and Pacific Ocean. 15 minutes or 8 ½ miles from the Lihue Airport. We shuttle from the airport when avail for $20 regardless of how many passengers. The taxi is about $27 from the airport. It might be best to print this part of the DIRECTIONS.As you come out of airport there is a large 4 way stop signal light #1. Turn right. There are no other turns, you drive straight to the Kauai BeachHouse which is on the main road on the right side of the road and on the Pacific Ocean and the Blue Lagoon. We are 8 ½ miles, or 14 Km and 15 minutes from the Lihue Airport. There are no turns at all after the 1st light. That 1st light is #1 and a total of 8 stop lights…we are in the 3rd block past the 8th stop light…and 7 buildings past the Kapa’a Soccer Park also on the ocean. The soccer park is in the 2nd block past the 8th light. The 8th light has an ABC Store on the left on the corner.#8 stop light (the last one on the island) is in front of ABC Store; which is like a 7/11 convenience store. We are 3 more blocks on the right; on the ocean side of the road. After turning coming out of the airport the only other turn is into our neighbor Scotty’s BBQ. Call for more directions. You’ll see Scotty’s BBQ and then past that you will see our old blue garage with bamboo framed panels and 2 palm trees blocking our entertainment garage. If you are driving go through Scotty’s BBQ parking lot and park out on the back. Please do not park in the neighbor’s parking just past us…but you can park along the rocks parallel to the ocean/lagoon.
Our address is 1552 (Kuhio Hwy) is on the front of the garage above the BAMBOO panels…and as
well our 2 mailboxes on the coconut tree on the far side of the garage entrance has 4 – 1552 posted vertically on the coconut palm tree in front on the highway. Scotty’s BBQ is drab green and has white concrete pillars. The Kauai BeachHouse is painted BLUE w/ YELLOW trim on the ocean side; like a huge tree house on the roadside and a 3 tiered view decks on the Blue Lagoon and Pacific Ocean side. The “Kauai BeachHouse” sign is on the far side of our old blue garage on the highway.Scotty’s BBQ is 2nd story only; their parking is on the ground level, but do not park there. Our largeMonkey Pod tree shades both the BeachHouse BBQ area and Scotty’s BBQ parking lot. When you arrive if we are not there, relax, you can choose a shared bunk, we’ll get you your sheets when we come back from an errand. Check in time is noon and after 6:00 pm; come anytime and relax on our view decks or TV lanai. The Private rooms are on the first floor overlooking the lagoon. Go onto any of the decks to relax including downstairs around the back. Or walk along the lagoon until we get back…phoning us is best on arrival.Looking out to the lagoon and ocean the large neighborhood free swimming pool is to the left and a sandy beach is over the little bridge to the right. Both are about 100 yds./meters away
from us. Follow the obvious path and if you like you can swim in the pool or the sandy beach behind the library.

Please have no sand or mud on clothing, and other washables, when using the washing machine and showers. Section 4: Who We Are and What the Kauai BeachHouse, LLC is Like
Some people who show up dripping in jewelry w/ lots of tasteful luggage and very fancy clothes mistakenly think we are a hotel type of place. This is not the case. We are a casual, laid back
place for people who can relate to this type of hostelling atmosphere. We are certainly a very nice budget accommodation, we think we are at least in the top 3 if not #1 in Hawaii according to the many guests who have stayed w/ us. This is a comparison to other hostels and budget lodging places.A few people have showed up and did not like our accommodations; they expected a fancy hotel with amenities similar to hotels; which is where they went to after us, but had to pay well over a $300/night and up for accommodations without the beautiful view of the ocean and lagoon. If you are unsure of the type of accommodations you want then do not reserve a place from us as the confirmed deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. You see when we reserve an accommodation for you, we guarantee that you have a place to stay while on Kauai, and you guarantee that you will honor that confirmation.Out of the many many thousands of people who have enjoyed the Kauai BeachHouse only a handful have turned their nose up at our wonderful accommodations.Just remember most of our guests are backpackers, longer term "sunbirds"; campers, they are casual and mellow, and easy to meet people and share experiences with and go out together and experience the extraordinary island of Kauai..Also if you are the type of person who cannot get along w/ others or cannot clean up after themselves perhaps a hotel is more suitable for you with their ability to provide you complete services and privacy.Personal hygiene and cleanliness are a requirement, if you need your surroundings to be messy, there are other places to stay more suited to that lifestyle, but not here with us and our guests. Cleaning up after yourself at kitchen and bathrooms, BBQ area and entertainment garage is imperative in this type setting since all facilities are shared.Sunrise and moonrise are incredible from our lagoon decks. Sunset also is
beautiful from the Mauka or mountain decks and under the huge Monkey Pod
Trees and Palms in our patio and picnic BBQ area

Aloha, Tranquility, and Beauty

Aloha, Tranquility, and Beauty are our Style. There is an expert spinal correction and alignment center nearby; and soon to open is a fresh fish market specializing in all the Hawaiian raw and prepared sea foods and also a delicatessen, espresso bar. A large jacuzzi is being installed on one of the lanai’s. The shared accommodations are extra large hotel size full size double beds with each bunk having its own privacy curtains. The beds sleep one or two comfortably so couples can be together. The sunrise and moon rise over the lagoon can be seen from most of the bunks. Our location is safe and secure and well lit at night for your convenience. Our resident manager has stayed in hostels and other shared accommodation locations in over 60 countries and is well experienced to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable, and a wonderful lifetime experience. The number of guests is limited so that quality, relaxation, fun, and a personal friendly stay is our reputation. We believe our place is a complement to one of the most beautiful islands in the oceans of the world. There is plenty of space for outdoor smoking away from the other guests, but no smoking is allowed in or on the building for your natural health benefit.

Geographical Information

Geographical Information Because the “GardenIsland” of Kauai is the furthest North of Hawaii’s main islands, we are “Top of the Chain”, it is slightly cooler than the other islands. Typical winter daytime highs are 76 to 80 degrees F (24.4-26.7 C) and nighttime lows run 60 to 64 degrees (15.6-17.8 C); while summer daytime highs range from 84 to 87 degrees (28.9-30.6 C) and nighttime lows are typically 70 to 72 degrees (21.1-22.2 C). Spring and Fall emperatures are only slightly different from the highs and lows noted above. So if you’re planning to drive up to Kokee, you will want to bring a jacket and sweatpants, because the temperatures will be 10-12 degrees cooler than at sea level locations….especially in the winter months. Think jackets/sweaters in the mountains or even at the beach in the winter. Rainfall on Kauai varies both with the seasons, and as a result of the trade winds, which produce differences in weather between the northern and eastern coasts (windward side) verses southern and western coasts (leeward side). Summer months tend to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on both coasts, while the winter months of November to March bring an increase of clouds and periodic rain showers. Another moderating factor is that the rains fall typically during the night and early morning hours …leaving much of the daylight hours available for outdoor activities. The nice thing about Kauai is that the weather is very localized, so if its inclement where you are, a dry sunny beach can usually be found by just driving a few miles to another part of the island. It is this wide variety of environments created by the mix of ocean, mountains and moist trade winds that allow visitors to enjoy sun-drenched beaches, lush tropical valleys, water falls, colorful canyons, cool highlands and frequent rainbows all delivered with Kauai’s warm spirit of Aloha. We have jungles and dessert and rugged mountains on Kauai.
